    • The dangers of hangovers and residual effects while at work.

Training Module 2: For Drivers & Safety-Sensitive Staff

Module Title: The Sober Driver: Your License, Your Livelihood, Your Life

Key Topics:

  1. The Law & Your License: Overview of Nigerian traffic laws related to driving under the influence (DUI) and the severe legal penalties (fines, imprisonment, loss of license).
  2. The Physics of Impairment:
    • Interactive Exercise: Demonstrate how even a small amount of alcohol drastically increases braking distance and reduces reaction time using video simulations.
    • The deadly combination of fatigue, distraction, and alcohol/drugs.
  3. Reasonable Suspicion Training for Peers:
    • Observable Signs: Practical guidance on identifying signs of potential impairment in a colleague (e.g., slurred speech, odor of alcohol, unsteady gait, erratic behavior, bloodshot eyes).
    • What to Do: The specific procedure for reporting concerns immediately to a supervisor. This is framed as a life-saving duty, not betrayal.
  4. The Testing Process – A Demonstration:
    • Live Demo: Demonstration of Alcovisor Jupiter evidential breathalyzer. This reduces anxiety and demystifies the process.
    • Explanation of how the device works, its accuracy, and its regulatory approvals (NHTSA, US DOT).
    • Review of the chain of custody and the rights of the employee during testing.
  5. Consequences:
    • Clear outline of the disciplinary process for a confirmed positive test, up to and including termination, in accordance with company policy.
    • The immense personal cost: risk of causing fatal accidents, injury, and loss of life.
  6. Scenario-Based Learning: Discuss real-world scenarios drivers might face (e.g., “pressure from peers after work,” “using medication for pain,” “a colleague who seems unfit to drive”).
  7. Pledge & Commitment: Participants sign a “Sober Driver Pledge” as a commitment to safety.

Additional Program Components
